In the Bible we find several occasions in which God asked his chosen ones: «go up  to the mountain».

To Abraham:
He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” (Génesis 22:2 ESV)

To Moses:
“The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and wait there, that I may give you the tablets of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction.” …Then Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. The glory of the Lord dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. Moses entered the cloud and went up on the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.”  (Exodus 24:12,15-18 ESV)

When God gives this instruction to His chosen ones it is because He has a purpose that must go through the process of the mountain, and upon arrival you will receive something special from Him.

We have read it over and over again, but let’s stop for a moment and learn about the mountain. Climbing a mountain is not easy at all, it requires physical and mental preparation to be able to walk, climb and reach the top, it is a very difficult challenge to achieve.

In the case of Moses, a man of advanced age, climbing the mountain was a challenge and a test of faith, not only spiritual or mental, but also physical.

Probably on the way up, he was out of strength and fatigued. But his character was also bent, each step he took was a process of formation until he reached the top, and surely, the Moses who ascended and had a face-to-face encounter with God was not the same one who descended. Even the glow on his face was different because he had been in the presence of God.

God our Father represents the mountain as those processes that each one of us must live. There are moments and trials in our life that seem like a gigantic mountain in front of us, we look up and it seems that we will not be able to overcome it, we think that it is difficult to face it.

But God tells us: «Go up the mountain and you will have an encounter with me.» And when that moment comes you can ask yourself: Why me? Why such a big mountain? What will I be able to achieve? Or you can also take the test with faith and start walking hand in hand with the one who is allowing this, so that you know Him more, so that you honor Him more, so that you love Him more and depend totally on Him.

Along the way you will probably feel fear, fatigue, discouragement, uncertainty and feel you can’t do it, but you will also see the supernatural strength of your Father, the peace that passes all understanding and the joy of seeing His hand along the way.

Remember that this process will lead you to know the Father in a special way as you have never experienced before, when you reach the goal it will all be worth it because you will see the Lord and understand His plans.

When our strength runs out, it is when the arms of God support you. When the human is no longer possible, that is when God does the impossible. When the ordinary can’t happen, that’s when God makes the extraordinary happen. Miracles exist when only God can make them happen.
