God the Son, in his perfect love chose to come to Earth and pay for our sins with the death penalty of crucifixion. We were the ones who had to pay on the cross, He was innocent. The crucifixion was one of the most painful deaths in the Roman Empire of that time, where the body was subjected to cruel torture with extreme pain. It was the greatest injustice against the Son of God, since he was innocent, it was you and I who should be at Calvary and serve that sentence. But, when He comes to Earth, He initiates an intimate relationship with the human being, offers us a new life and be with Him for eternity. Celebrating Christmas is not spending hours in celebrations, that distracts attention to the worship of God. It is good to buy, give or share with friends, it is a good time to talk about him and tell his extraordinary story to others. It is about explaining that he offered his life out of love, and that in him there was no sin, he offered himself as a sacrifice for all, because we were guilty.
This Christmas, do you know what the best gift is? Jesus Christ, Christmas will not be the same when understanding that He gave us Salvation and eternal life, that is his best inheritance, everything is free, we do not have to pay anything. It was his life with which he paid for us, the debt is paid. For this reason, we must be grateful and walk by his hand every day with confidence and security in him. The world offers distractions, parties, madness, but they are momentary. Our trust must be with our Creator God, Romans 5:10 (ASV) says «For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life;» His death on the cross was not in vain, today the reason for celebrating Christmas is Him. Everything moves around him.
Something fascinating is that the Old Testament prophecies are fulfilled, with certainty, it says in the book of Micah 5:2 (CEB) “ As for you, Bethlehem of Ephrathah, though you are the least significant of Judah’s forces, one who is to be a ruler in Israel on my behalf will come out from you. His origin is from remote times, from ancient days.» (Ephrata meant the district where Bethlehem was located) Micah accurately predicted the place of Christ’s birth, hundreds of years ago. God keeps his promises always. Another prophetic biblical quote is Isaiah 7:14 (CEB): «Therefore, the Lord will give you a sign. The young woman is pregnant and is about to give birth to a son, and she will name him Immanuel.» We see two prophecies fulfilled to the letter. We observe the truthfulness of God’s Word. He was, is and will be the best gift to humanity. We will be saved only if we confess our sins before Him. This means completely surrendering to Him, believing that His Word does not lie, it is a total dependence on Him. We acquire a different lifestyle from others, we are light in the midst of darkness. Understand that shedding his precious blood for us is the meaning of what true Christmas is. We can not save ourselves by being good, it is not by doing works, it is by faith in Him. His love is unconditional for us, let us share in his immense love, since the world needs it. We are weak and alone we cannot against the world, united as Church we ask the Holy Spirit to give us the necessary strength to fulfill his Word and do his will, our life from now on will be consecrated for him. His death is substitute, he took our place There is no way to pay him the great sacrifice made on the cross, it was all out of love for you and me. Let’s share that He is the true meaning of Christmas
