The proof that any foundation is stable is found when it is shaken or tested; when it stands firm through whatever attempts to destroy it. Jesus compared a house built on sand with one built on rock. Both were exposed to the storms of life, but one remained strong because of its foundation.
Can we prove that our foundation is real? Can we evaluate to see where we need to tear down, reinforce, or rebuild? How we handle life’s trials is what actually reveals the condition of our foundation and ultimately the condition of our heart.
When our faith is tried by fire, our hearts are examined, our character is proven, and our ability to endure is put to the test. If our foundation is strong, we become stronger. If it’s weak, it gets demolished.
God doesn’t tempt us but He definitely tests us before taking us to the next level. The tests of life are like a refining fire that purifies our hearts, motives and foundation until the only thing left standing is a strong foundation.
