En El Nombre De Jesús

One day I read: «eating is a necessity, but eating intelligently is an art» (La Rochefoucauld) and without a doubt, eating is a necessity since our body needs different macro and micro nutrients found in food, to be able to carry out the different metabolic processes that create a favorable environment for the correct functioning of the body and its daily activities.

Eating intelligently is an art, as it is an action that involves care, love and respect for ourselves, and through this action our body receives energy, vitamins and minerals, necessary and indispensable for its functioning. We are responsible for taking care of our body inside and out, because it also belongs completely to God:  Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) When we think about honoring God, many times we focus on honoring him with our praise, offering, adoration, communion and many other things, but we rarely think that we can honor God by eating healthy.

And yes, as you are reading it, we can honor God by eating healthy, and how important it is, because by taking care of our food we are taking care of our body, a body that by grace He gave us.

Since the body is the temple where the Holy Spirit dwells, we should not want or allow it to dwell in a neglected temple, since neglect can lead to deterioration, discontent and even various diseases in the temple we have. Therefore, taking care of your body is not only something physical and mental, taking care of your body is also something spiritual, because by taking care of your body you are taking care of the temple of the Holy Spirit and you are honoring God.

Eating wisely and taking care of your diet is a decision that brings blessing, in addition to being obedient when taking care of your body, you are preventing diseases because your body is receiving what it really needs and not what will damage it. Leading a healthy lifestyle and eating healthy are actions that all Christians should take because God has called us to control our desires instead of them controlling us: “for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
