«And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.»” (Matthew 18:3 NIV)

Faced with the different situations and challenges of life, many times we feel unable to get ahead. Our disability does not necessarily have to be physical, most of the time it is mental.

Our human spirit has been endowed by God with a very important element called faith. Something we cannot see or touch, but in our hearts we know that through faith we can live a life without limits. You do not believe it? Let me share an experience with you. What can we learn from a 2-year-old? Every time I share with David André, my grandson, I learn so much about unlimited faith and trust and the passage in Matthew 18:3 comes to mind: «… Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”  He enjoys every moment and is amazed even by the simplest things: «what a beautiful day», I hear him say frequently. He has faith without question and such confidence, that he does not doubt whether his parents have resources or not, he asks with the certainty that he will receive.

Sometimes he gets frustrated because something doesn’t turn out the way he expected, I see his frustration; but within seconds he says, «I’m going to try again.» How many lessons I learn from a child of only 2 years!

Do you get frustrated because things didn’t turn out the way you expected? Frustration is a normal reaction we experience when our expectations are not meet. Disappointment, impotence, anger, are emotions that alter our mood in a negative way. Frustration can also be a means of learning, if we so decide, because difficulties are part of our lives. So the next time you experience frustration, just relax, look at the simple things like sunrise or sunset, sunlight or starlight, blue sky or gray clouds, wind, nature…look at His creation. If possible, look for a mirror and observe the most perfect creation made by God and speak to your inner boy… to your inner girl… invite her to smile, to create, to believe without limits and to trust that even during difficulty we can be happy. If you have come this far, I invite you to smile, to look around you; be thankful for all His gifts and for your inner child who tells you: «Come on, smile… let’s live a life without limits… live the Kingdom of God here and now».
